The European Association of Surfing Doctors was founded to connect doctors through a shared passion for surfing. We hope to enrich surfing medicine in his broadest perspective. Enlarging the community of surfing medicine, contribute to medical knowledge in surfing medicine and share the joy of surfing with colleagues. Our aim is to organize an annual conference within Europe, about surfing medicine combined with a social event including a contest. We hope to bring surfing doctors in Europe together from the fjords of Scandinavia to the cape of Portugal.

We are currently organizing our first conference the June 8, 9 and 10 2012 in Portugal. Right now we are filling up our speakers list. We are looking for specialists to cover the subjects listed below. Please contact us if you are, or know, a specialist that would like to cover one of the subjects listed below.

-Trauma in surf setting (common traumatic injuries among surfers)
-Head injury and cervical spine trauma
-Near-drowning and hypothermia
-Surfing and sun exposure ; Sun protection and early recognition of skin cancer
-Tropical surfing medicine- current views of first aid in stings and bites
-Wilderness Medicine, demands for medical support in remote places
-Wilderness Medicine, special skills for remote locations and personal experiences
-Surfing psychology and neurobiology
-Maritime science, everything about swell
-Reading the metrological maps; the basics
